It won't take long for our book to appear on Amazon, however, it will be more expensive to purchase from Amazon than directly from FirstSigns, due to Amazon's pricing and postage system. FirstSigns (Self-Injury Guidance & Network Support) is an online, user-led voluntary organisation, founded in 2002 to raise awareness about self-injury and provide information and support to people of all ages affected by self-injury. We recognise self-injury is a way of coping with distressing experiences and difficult emotions, and we encourage people to reflect on the issues behind their self-injury, and to develop and explore alternative coping mechanisms. |
We have written and published several editions of our 'Self-Injury Awareness Booklet' over the years, however, our new book takes a fresh look at the topic of self-injury and has a completely new format. Our new book addresses some of difficult questions that surround self-injury, and tackles the subject from a practical and 'person centred' perspective. you can dip into the book to find thought provoking and everyday guidance on managing self-injurious behaviour; there's no need to read the book cover to cover (although we hope you will) as you can go straight to the sections and pages that are most relevant to you.
