Jules has been an active member of LifeSIGNS for many years. She is known on the Message Board as Gothic-Jules.

Jules is passionate about self-injury awareness.

“A lot has been done, and the awareness is working, but there is still a long way to go.”

Jules has personal experience of self-injury and although diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, she is now in recovery. She is very interested in the perceived connection between self-injury and BPD, and the negative effects of labelling.

Jules feels strongly that self-injury should never be seen as something that just affects teenage girls, and is particularly keen to promote awareness among the older generations.

“I feel that older people might feel more alone and unable to reach out for the help they need. I hope that one day every single person who self-injures will have access to LifeSIGNS.”

In her spare time Jules enjoys reading, writing, music, arts & crafts and caring for her cats and tortoise.
